I denne utstillingen søker Katharina Bjelland å sette lys på våre daglige valg, gjennom hvordan vi stadig optimaliserer våre prestasjoner, knyttet til oss selv, familien og våre sosiale liv. Valg som tar tid og energi. Vi arbeider for å leve, for å øke vår levestandard, for å kunne forbruke stadig mer. Vi strever for å balansere arbeid, helse og fritid for oss selv og vår familie. Dette på toppen av økende bekymringer knyttet til krig, urettferdighet, klimaendringer og ettervirkningene av Covid. «Run Run as fast as you can» belyser «tidsklemma», metaforen for vår tid og den heseblesende og nådeløse atmosfæren som skapes når en vil alt og forsøker å oppnå dette. De ulike statementene som blir uthevet er satt inn i kjente referanser for materialisme og forbruk.

In this exhibition, Katharina Bjelland seeks to shed light on our daily choices, through how we constantly optimise our achievements, related to ourselves, our family and our social lives. Choices that take time and energy. We work to live, to raise our standard of living, to be able to consume more and more. We strive to balance work, health and leisure for ourselves and our family. To top it all, we constantly worry about our world, the ongoing wars, injustice and climate change; not to forget trying to deal with the aftermath of COVID. “run run as fast as you can” sheds light on the “time crunch”, the metaphor for our time and the raucous and merciless atmosphere that is created when you want everything and try to achieve it. The various highlighted statements are inserted into popular references for materialism and consumption.

Katharina Bjelland utforsker masseproduserte objekter og materialer ved å se på hvilke lag som blir avslørt når de tas ut av sin opprinnelige sammenheng.
Bjelland bruker i tillegg ofte tradisjonelle kunstreferanser og medier, med undertone av Ironi og humor for å invitere til kritisk ettertanke. Bjelland stiller gjerne spørsmål ved originalitet, forfatterskap og autentisitet og utforsker lekent kunstens natur og definisjon.
Katharina Bjelland ble uteksaminert fra kunstskolen i Stavanger 2021. Våren 2022 var hun gjestekunstner ved Tou Trykk, Stavanger og viste utstillingen COLLABORATIONS x IMITATIONS i Arkivet, Tou Trykks visningssted. I 2020 stilte hun ut ved Salongen Visningsrom & Atelierfelleskap med «I am therefore I shop»
Katharina Bjelland
Katharina Bjelland explores mass-produced objects and materials by looking at which layers are revealed when they are taken out of their original context.
In addition, Bjelland often uses traditional art references and media, with undertones of irony and humor to invite critical reflection. Bjelland likes to question originality, authorship and authenticity and playfully explores the nature and definition of art.
Katharina Bjelland graduated from the art school in Stavanger in 2021. In spring 2022, she was a guest artist at Tou Trykk, Stavanger and showed the exhibition COLLABORATIONS x IMITATIONS in Arkivet, Tou Trykk’s exhibition space. In 2020, she exhibited at Salongen Visningsrom & Atelierfelleskap with “I am therefore I shop”
